The new production of the opera 'Eugene Onegin' by P. I. Tchaikovsky, based on the verse novel by A. S. Pushkin, is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the opening of the building and the main stage of the Ruse Opera.
The production is a recreation of the performance created and staged 70 years ago. This is greatly aided by documentary photographs as well as the preserved costume design sketches in the Opera's art archive. These are the masterful works of the costume designer Ani Hadzhimisheva and the set designer Tsanko Voynov, which today have been restored by costume designer Yana Dvoretska and graphically reimagined by the Ruse artists Violeta Radkova, Elsytsa Popova, Nina Lishovska, and Radoslav Radoslavov. In the original creative concept, they resemble the tenderly sentimental opening of an old photo album, where, between its pages, the characters of Pushkin and Tchaikovsky come to life in all their glory.
